John and Lori have wanted a baby in the worst way. They weren't able to get pregnant, so invetro (i don't know how to spell it) was the next step. They found a facility in Phoenix that they were comfortable with. Unfortunately, there were some medical problems with Lori, so after 2 attempts and a lot of emotion, the invetro was a no go. Next route, adoption. This is not an easy road. For anyone who has gone through it, or knows someone who has been through it can testify it is on of the most difficult things you can go through. There were times they thought they had a baby only to have the dream taken away. They tried a couple of different agencies, but to make a long, long story short, they actually were lead to a private adoption. The birth mom went into labor last Tuesday and was in labor for 4 days. She was early, so they didn't want to do anything to speed her up. They wanted the baby to be as developed as possible. John and Lori never left the hospital and had very little sleep. After a long week, our little Lily Winchester was born 6 weeks early. 4lbs 10 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. She is one tough cookie. She didn't even have to go to the NICU. She was born breathing on her own and is able to eat on her own. She is in the Special Care Nursery right now with a chance to be home in the next week or so. She is such a beautiful baby. We are so excited to have her in our family. It is so much fun to see John as a dad. He is already so protective of her. After looking back on what John and Lori have gone through, it makes me appreciate how lucky I am to be blessed with Warren coming so easily. I am sure now that John looks back on all of the babies that were almost his, or the pain he has gone through, he knows that little Lily was sent to him for a reason.
So...... now we have 3 babies in our family 5 months and younger. Baby Jane coming in May to make 4 babies in 6 months for a total of 8 grandkids! Warren is going to be a busy boy taking care of his 3 little girl cousins all the same age!
Look how wide awake she is just after being born.
I think she is going to be a smart little girl.
